When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree

 Picture book by Jamie Deenihan.


This is a cute take on the saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” A little girl receives a lemon tree from her Grandma, which was not on her birthday wish list. But she accepts it gratefully, learns to care for it, then harvests the lemons to make lemonade, which she sells to earn money to buy herself what she wants, which turns out to be more plants for her newfound gardening hobby.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and marvelled at Trudy’s dedication despite those men who were determined to stop her.  Book by Brandon Sanderson  This was an utterly charming fantasy/adventure that reminded me a lot of The Princess Bride. I plowed through the audiobook in just two days, listening every chance I could! My only complaint is that I wish it were slightly more standalone, rather than assuming the reader is already familiar with Hoid. However, even without that background knowledge, I believe the book would have widespread appeal. Recommended Age 13+

What If? Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions

 Nonfiction book by Randall Monroe. Nonfiction science is not my preferred genre, but my husband and teens found this audiobook hilarious, and even I was amused. The author takes absurd questions and tries to find actual scientific answers to them, leading to some surprising and entertaining results. As an added bonus, the audiobook is read by Wil Wheaton. Fun for a family car trip.
