Before the Ever After

 Book by Jacqueline Woodson.


This is a book about family and friendship and supporting each other. It also highlights the dangers of tackle football and other concussion causing activities. Written in free verse, it’s both beautiful and heartbreaking. I listened to the audiobook (one of the shortest audiobooks I’ve ever listened to) and it was very well done. No objectionable content. Highly recommended for ages 10+.

Tress of the Emerald Sea

 Book by Brandon Sanderson  This was an utterly charming fantasy/adventure that reminded me a lot of The Princess Bride. I plowed through the audiobook in just two days, listening every chance I could! My only complaint is that I wish it were slightly more standalone, rather than assuming the reader is already familiar with Hoid. However, even without that background knowledge, I believe the book would have widespread appeal. Recommended Age 13+
