Other Words For Home

 Novel by Jasmine Warga.

Beautifully written, real, hopeful... I loved this book about a Syrian girl fleeing her war torn country and adjusting to life in America! It reminded me a lot of Inside Out and Back Again, both in subject matter and writing style (Very short free verse chapters). This would be a great book to discuss refugees and how we treat those of other races or religions. There is mention of menstruation, but there is nothing objectionable in terms of content, so this would be fantastic for ages 11+.
