Listening for Lions

 Novel by Gloria Whelan.

This was a lovely book that reminded me vaguely of A Little Princess, with a protagonist who is kind and smart and cares about people. Great introduction for a discussion of stereotypes and prejudices (racial, gender, and socioeconomic).  Highly recommended for upper elementary readers.
